Mary Anna Pederson

February 3, 1928 — June 18, 2011

Mary Anna "Marion" Pederson, 83, Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Louis and Anna (Mondor) Rousseau in Backoo, ND, on February 3, 1928. She married Claire Pederson on August 17, 1958, in Crookston, MN, and had three daughters. They lived in Grand Forks, ND, for the majority of their lives, but for a brief time, they lived in Seattle, WA, and Fargo, ND. Marion was a soft-spoken, kind-hearted woman whose main joy in life was her family, including her siblings, nieces, nephews, and those who preceded her in death. On Memorial Day for the past 42 years, she would faithfully place flowers at the gravesites of loved ones. Before her health declined, she enjoyed making the wreaths. She always had extras on hand so that no one was forgotten. Her door and her heart were always open to family and friends. Left to mourn her passing are: daughters Sherry (David) Hotaling, Brandon, MS; Pamela (Ralph) Holloway, Auburn, WA; Patti (Mark) Reimer, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren Julia Hotaling, Brandon, MS; Brittany (Stephen) Robello, San Diego, CA; Peter and Ashley Holloway, Auburn, WA; Matthew, Megan, and Michael Reimer, Grand Forks, ND; sisters Gladys (Freddie) Dalzell, Seattle, WA; Pauline Dalzell, So. St. Paul, MN; Doreen White, Grand Forks, ND; Lorraine (Joe) Tabor, So. St. Paul, MN; brother Charles (Karen) Rousseau; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a beloved "auntie," sister-in-law, and friend to many. She was preceded in death, four months earlier, by her husband of nearly 53 years; her parents; and brothers, Donald and Adelore "Joe" Rousseau. The family would like to thank her many healthcare providers, especially Dr. Khaled Rabadi and the nurses of Aurora Dialysis, for their compassion and concern for our mother's well being. Also many thanks to Altru Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to both our parents in their final days. Funeral Service is at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 24, with visitation one hour prior to the service at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, 1616 17th Street South, Grand Forks, ND. Internment after the service at Memorial Park Cemetery North, Grand Forks, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Altru Home Delivered Meals or Altru Hospice, 1000 South Columbia Road, Grand Forks, ND, 58201; or the GF Senior Center Meals on Wheels, 620 4th Avenue South, Grand Forks, ND, 58201.
