Hattie Erickson

Hattie Erickson, 83, of Oakes, ND, formerly of Grand Forks, ND, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Oakes Community Hospital. Hattie Alinda Bergan, daughter of Arndt and Hilda (Olson) Bergan was born February 11, 1928 at Borup, Minnesota, where she grew up and graduated from Borup High School. After her schooling, she worked in Fargo for Pratt & Company as a bookkeeper. She was united in marriage to Floyd A. Erickson on May 1, 1954. They lived in Michigan, North Dakota before moving to Grand Forks in 1958. Hattie was employed with the American Red Cross and UND dining services. Retiring in 1980, Floyd and Hattie moved to Little McDonald Lake in Minnesota. They enjoyed being at the lake and especially loved the many visitors that would stop by. In 1997, they moved back to Grand Forks. Floyd passed away in 2001, and Hattie moved to Oakes in 2006 to be close to family. She was involved in church activities, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Postal Workers Ladies Auxiliary. Hattie loved her family, her many friends, good conversation and good food. Her spunky wit, kindness and generosity will remain in our memories forever. Sharing in this loss are daughter, Judy (Keith) Loepp, Oakes; son-in-law, Doug Grinde, Grand Forks; sister, Nora Olwin, Fargo; two sisters-in-law, Anne Erickson, Grand Forks, and Esther Erickson, Fargo; five grandchildren, Jason (Gina) Grinde, Bemidji, MN, Haley (Darin) Grosz, Elbow Lake, MN, Jenna Loepp, Deven Loepp, and Erik Loepp, all of Oakes; four great-grandchildren, Braden Grinde, Ava Grinde, Halle Grosz, and Macy Grosz; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Floyd, daughter Holly, sisters, Helma Mayer, Arlene Bergan, and brothers-in-law, Rolf Erickson, Phil Erickson, and Robert Olwin. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, ND. On Wednesday, July 13th, there will be visitation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:30 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, ND. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Sharon Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Forks.
