E. Lillian Johnson

January 23, 1925 — July 12, 2011

Elin Lillian Johnson passed away at St. Vincent Hospital July 12, 2011 of natural causes. Lillian was born January 23 1925 to Sigga (Scheving) and Samuel O. Johnson at the family farm east of Gardar ND. Mom grew up in Gardar and graduated from Gardar High School 1943. In 1945 and 46 Mom worked for North American Aviation in Los Angeles supporting the war effort. She then worked for Seattle Trust and Savings in Seattle for 2 years. In 1949 she married W. B. "Bennie" Johnson at Gardar. They lived in a tiny trailer in Fargo while Dad went to NDAC (now NDSU). After Dad graduated they lived in Iowa, Lisbon ND, farmed a while north of Mountain ND and in 1956 they moved to Grand Forks. Mom was active with the Elks Ladies, Homemakers, Park Board oil painting and loved to sew. Dad and her loved to travel, they went on many cruises and they went on many 1st National Bank trips. She was a long time member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She really enjoyed oil painting and continued to do so till her eyesight got to poor. She was always on the go, loved to shop and visit with friends and family. She was very proud of her Icelandic Heritage. In 1995 Mom and Dad bought a condo in Stuart FL and split their time between Grand Forks and Stuart. In 2002 they moved full time to Stuart. In 2006 they moved to Billings to be close to their son. Bennie passed away in 2008. Mom was an outstanding Wife, Mother, Gramma and Great Gramma. She is survived by her daughter Kari Wolf (Dr. Rick) Joplin MO ,son Kevin (Billings), grand daughters Sacha Thrall , Kinsey Johnson, Kailee King, Ariel Wolf, Kiira Wolf, and Tovah Wolf,grand son Jared Wolf (Amber), great grand children Lexi Wolf, Dylan King and Karson. Brothers Oliver Johnson (Shirley) and Victor Johnson (Dorothy), Sister Goodie Anderson (Russell) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bennie and son Kent. We love and miss you Mom and Grams. Lexy, Dylan and Karson will miss their Amma.
