Yvonne R. Gilbertson

Yvonne R. Gilbertson, 76, passed away at Altru Hospital on July 14, 2011. Yvonne was born November 30, 1934, to Amanda (Johnson) and Allan Knain in Northwood, North Dakota. She grew up in Northwood and attended Northwood High School. Yvonne graduated from Aaker's Business College in 1954. It was while attending Aaker's that she met Robert (Bob) Gilbertson, and they married on September 19, 1954, residing in Grand Forks for all of their 56+ years together. Yvonne was a partner with Bob in marriage and in their family business, Bob's Oil Co., where she worked as secretary/bookkeeper for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with, and cooking for, her family. Yvonne is survived by her husband, Bob; her daughter, Michele Winzer; her sons, Brian (and his friend, Paulette Passa) and Darin (and his friend, Katherine Anagnost) - all of Grand Forks; her grandchildren, Nick and Amy Winzer, also of Grand Forks; Sara McCoy and Jennifer Gilbertson and great-grandchildren Mia McCoy and Dylan Lian, all of Fargo, North Dakota. She is also survived by her sister, Frances (John) Wood, Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers Wayne (Inez) Knain, Grand Forks, and Terry (Barb) Knain, Fargo; her sisters-in-law, Vidette and Carol Knain, Grand Forks, and Connie Knain, Fargo; and her half-sister, Leah (Troy) Erickson, Minot, North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her son, Bradley; her parents; her brothers, Eugene, Wesley, and Douglas; her sisters Mildred Hannem and Gwendolyn Colbert; and her father- and mother-in-law, Henry and Lillian Gilbertson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10:30 AM in Sharon Lutheran Church, 1720 South 20th St., Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church.
