Madge (Nickeson) Smith

Madge M. (Nickeson) Smith, 86, passed away on August 5, 2011 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Madge was born January 30, 1925, in Clyde, ND to Albert Earl and Marjorie (Hogan) Nickeson. Madge married Robert D. Smith on October 20, 1947 in Grand Forks. Madge was a member of Chapter AF of PEO for more than 50 years, Circle 1 of the Presbyterian Church, Republican Women, Alpha Beta of Gamma Phi Beta, and the Myra Museum. Madge enjoyed painting, crafting, quilting and playing bridge. Madge is survived by children, Robert (Mary), Brad (Diane), Lynne (David) Roche; daughter-in-law, Vicki Smith; grandchildren, Marnee (Marty) Strege, Matthew, Kevin, Brian, Hannah and Molly (Joe) Sumers, Sean & Casey Smith, Mandy (Larry) Bellew, Meghan & Duncan Smith, Brooke (Tom) Conlin & Kelli Roche; sisters, Marlys (David) Pung, Patricia (Charles) Skogland; brother, Richard (Iona) Nickeson; great-grandchildren, Emma Strege, Gabrielle & Parker Bellew, John Eaton, Makena Hickman. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert and a son, Thomas. **In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Altru Cancer Center, 960 S. Columbia Rd. Grand Forks, ND 58201. FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Calvary Lutheran Church 1405 S. 9th St. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue for the hour prior to the funeral at the church. INTERMENT: Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Forks, ND.
