Meinhardt "Mike" Bader Meinhardt Bader, 82, of Grand Forks, ND died on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Valley Eldercare, Grand Forks. Meinhardt was born on November 16, 1928, the son of John and Julia (Weller) Bader in New Leipzig, ND. He grew up in New Leipzig and graduated from New Leipzig High School in 1947. Meinhardt graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1951. He married Delores Wolf on April 18, 1954. Meinhardt served in the US Air Force from 1951 through 1971 and retired at the rank of Major. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service. Meinhardt earned his Masters in Accounting from the University of North Dakota in 1972 and earned his CPA certificate in 1973. He taught in the Accounting Department at the University of North Dakota from 1972 through 1991. Meinhardt was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing golf during his retirement. He was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church for nearly 50 years. He was also an avid supporter of UND athletics. He was a devoted husband to his wife, a loving father to his sons, and the best grandfather ever to his grandchildren. Faith, family, and friends were the most important things in Meinhardt's life and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Meinhardt is survived by his wife, Delores; sons: Michael (Mary) Bader, Minneapolis, MN, and Keith (Karen) Bader, Modesto, CA; sister: Elaine (Harry) Hanson, Edina, MN; and five grandchildren: Kenneth, Steven, Lauren, Catherine, and David. Meinhardt was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Robert, Ray, and Marvin; and sister: Alma Mueller. Funeral services will be Monday, August 22, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 South 9th St., Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, August 21, 2011 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, ND. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
