Donna Faye Lewis

Donna F. Lewis, 81, of Grand Forks, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2011 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Donna was born October 11, 1929, in Grand Forks, the daughter of Hiram & Margaret (Render) Sykes. She grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School. Donna married Henry Lewis on May 17, 1948 in Grand Forks. She worked for Sears for 35 years before her retirement in 1985. Donna held local and district offices in the American Legion Auxiliary Legion Post #6. She was also a 16 year volunteer for the American Red Cross on the national level, where she aided in disasters around the country. Donna enjoyed baking, knitting, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donna is survived by her sons; Jim (Patricia) Lewis of Mesa, AZ, Bob (Dona) Lewis of Thompson, ND; daughters, Nancy (Gary) Enright of East Grand Forks, MN, Judee (Roger) Coons of Grand Forks; grandchildren, Shad (Susie) Lewis, Joey (Heidi) Lewis, Jay (Heather) Lewis, Landi (Chad) Larson, Codie (Troy) Thompson and Chelcie Coons and 10 great-grandchildren, sister, Jeanette "Tiny" (Jerry) Ruich and sister-in-law, Jane Sykes. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry who passed in 2003; brother, Charles "Bud" Sykes, and grandchildren, Todd and Tamara Lewis. FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church 5555 S. Washington St. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: Tuesday, August 23 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with an 8:00 p.m. prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND INTERMENT: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
