Joan A. McCauley , 74, of East Grand Forks, MN died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Joan Arlene Hollarn was born on November 1, 1936 in the Deaconess hospital, Grand Forks to Don and LaVerne (Bushaw) Hollarn. She attended school in Grand Forks and graduated from high school in 1954. She worked for 1st national Bank until marrying Jim L. McCauley in 1956. They had three sons, James C. (Brenda A.), John L. (Brenda M.), Jason M. (Lori D.). Joan worked for UND in the continuing education department from 1980 to 2000. She was a very special person, the most wonderful wife and mother anyone could have. She treated everyone, especially family with open arms and heart. She was loved dearly and will never be forgotten. She was a big influence and mentor to many on just being a good person and loving and respecting others. Joan is survived by her wonderful husband Jim McCauley, three sons and daughter-in-laws, Brenda, Lori and Brenda. Her sisters Kitty, Sharon, Ginger, Donna and her brother Don. Her grandchildren, James, Jared, Jeana, Kyle, Matthew, Jesika, Abby, Megan and Jenna. Four great grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her parents Don and LaVerne Hollarn. Joan's words: "My grandchildren mean the world to me. I enjoyed life and had a positive outlook on most everything. Jim and I have enjoyed a lifetime of friends and family. I loved to bake, especially homemade buns for my grandchildren. We traveled to many places enjoying the surroundings and people. We had many happy times at Lake Lizzy with family and friends".
