Donald E. Sidie, 87, of Gonvick, MN died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in his home after a very long courageous battle with cancer. Donald Ellsworth Sidie was born on August 16, 1924 in Viroqua, Wisconsin the son of Scott and Leda (Williams) Sidie. Donald moved to North Dakota at the age of 12. After his graduation from high school in Manvel, he was inducted into the Army Air Force during WW II. He served as the aerial photographer and flew over 50 missions during the war. Donald received many honors of bravery. After being honorably discharged from the Army Air Force he married Naomi "Toots" Ferguson in 1952. Don worked for the U.S. Postal service until his retirement in 1984. In retirement he and Naomi spent their winters in South Padre Island and McAllen, Texas. Their summer's months were spent at Pine Lake in Gonvick, MN. Donald is survived by: Wife: Naomi Sidie Son: Jay (Ingred)Sidie Daughters: Pamela Larson and Luanne Sidie Six Grandchildren, Garrett and Nathan Nordstrum; Cody Bekkedahl; Raquel Sidie-Wagner; Lola and Eva Sidie Two Great Grandchildren, Sadira Nordstrum and Mia Bekkedahl
