Maxine Pearl (Bren) Slusar-Docken Maxine Pearl (Bren) Slusar-Docken, age 93 passed away Sept. 29th 2011 at the Maple View Care facility in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Maxine was born August 19, 1918 at Warren Minnesota, the daughter of Henry J. and Pearl (Truhn) Bren. Maxine was a graduate of the Boxville country school near the Warren area. On April 15th of 1944 Maxine was united in marriage to Thomas Slusar at East Grand Forks, Minnesota. Maxine was a longtime farming partner with her husband Thomas until his passing in 1967. Maxine was a housewife, mother of two sons and loved her flower gardens. She was active in the ladies aid at the Tabor Lutheran Church and the Farley Township Homemakers club. On December 7th, 1968, Maxine married Roy Docken at Grand Forks, North Dakota. After Roy's passing in 1979, she stayed in their University Ave. home where she was involved with the Ladies Circle at the University Lutheran Church where she was a longtime member. She enjoyed her many years at the Grand Forks Senior Center and donated her time to play in their small band to entertain at regional nursing homes. Maxine was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Slusar and Roy Docken. Parents Henry J. and Pearl (Truhn) Bren, sister Donna Jean and brother in law Emil Slusar. Maxine is survived by her loving family: Her sons, Terry Slusar of Eagan, Minnesota and Paul (Arlys) Slusar of Grand Forks, North Dakota. Her granddaughter Nicole (Chad) Mrazek of Ramsey, Minnesota and her great grandchildren Krista, Peyton and Madison Mrazek. Step Daughters: Ilene Pesch, Las Vegas, Judy (Paul) Homstad, Rancho Cucamonga, California and their families.
