Harold R. "Tex" McWilliams, 83, Grand Forks, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Harold Ray McWilliams was born in Fariview, Ohio on May 8, 1928 to Otis Harold McWilliams and Audrey Elizabeth (Brewster) McWilliams. He attended schools in Ohio, and at age 14 began traveling with a carnival. He was employed by a moving company in Florida.. Harold served in the US Army from 1945 to 1947. He married Lucille Srnsky on June 22, 1952 in Grand Forks. They lived in Grand Forks following their marriage. From 1966-1987 he was employed as a truck driver for Lumber Dealers Supply Co. in East Grand Forks. From 1987-1997 he was employed by Carrol Lebacken Trucking. He enjoyed Sunday morning visits with his family. He also enjoyed fishing and time at Golden Lake. He was a vigorous Minnesota Twins fan since 1961 and a fan of the Minnesota Vikings. For many years he enjoyed traveling with his family to Nashville, TN in the Ford station wagon and popup camper. Tex is survived by his wife Lucille; 10 children, Diane "Chickie" (Jack) Jorstad, Grand Forks, Karen "Peanut" (Don) Lauckner, Bottineau, ND, Roger (Sue) McWilliams, Donald (Teresa) McWilliams, Tracy (Sam) Christley, Randy (Dianne) McWilliams, Donna (Marty) Steen, Lori Whetzel, Bob (Mary) McWilliams, and Tammy (Wade) Horner, all of Grand Forks; 30 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Sant Peters; a brother Bill and an infant brother. Memorial Service: will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation: will be one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
