Dianne L. Iverson M.D., 62, Grand Forks, North Dakota, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks after a brief illness. Dianne Laurel Iverson was born to Joseph and Verna (Skari) Iverson on November 6, 1948 at Williams County Good Samaritan Hospital, Williston, North Dakota. She graduated from Watford City High School in 1967 and from the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley with a B.A. in Music Education in 1971. She taught music at Grand Island High School, Grand Island, Nebraska, and was also a private piano instructor. In 1975, Dianne decided to follow her dream to go to medical school and returned to North Dakota to attend the University of North Dakota Pre-Med Program. She received her medical degree from UND Medical School in 1981 and began a one-year residency in Portland at the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center in 1982. Dianne again returned to Grand Forks to complete a three-year residency in Pathology at UND Pathology Department/United Hospital. In 1985, after the completion of her residency training, Dianne joined Pathology Associates in Grand Forks. She was currently a Pathologist at Altru Hospital, where she has worked for the past 26 years. Dianne enjoyed playing the piano and French horn. She lead the youth group at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Williston, North Dakota and formed the "Soul & Inspiration" singing group. Dianne continued to enjoy music throughout her career in medicine. She was a member of the Grand Forks Master Choral and Symphony. She also enjoyed skiing, the ocean, and sailing. She especially loved her dog, "Abby Bichon". She is survived by her parents, Joseph and Verna Iverson, Williston, ND; siblings, David Iverson (Tina), Ballentine, Montana, Dean Iverson (Eileen), Ferndale, Washington, Deanna Iverson (Art Lopez), San Jose, California, Carlyle Mikkelson, Columbia Falls, Montana, Sharon Hanson, Grand Forks, North Dakota; a niece, Susan Iverson-Rivers (Terrence), Minneapolis and their daughters, Mikhala and Teagan; nephews, Hal Iverson, Fairbanks, Alaska, Michael Iverson, Alexander, North Dakota, and his daughter, Paiten. Celebration of Life Memorial Services: will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2011 at Trinity Free Lutheran Church, 3426 Chestnut St., Grand Forks and 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2011 at Emmanuel Free Lutheran Church 1213 3rd Ave. West, Williston, North Dakota. Visitation: will be at 1:00 p.m. prior to the memorial services at the churches. There will be lunch at the churches following the services.
