Catherine Marynik

Catherine M. Marynik, 88, Grand Forks, ND died Thursday, November 3, 2011 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND surrounded by her family. Catherine Mary Thielen was born November 14, 1922 in Richmond, MN the daughter of Benedict and Katherine (Flint) Thielen. She was raised and educated in Mahnomen, MN. She moved to Grand Forks, ND where she married August Marynik on October 21, 1947. They lived and raised their family in Grand Forks where Catherine worked for Cox Bakery and later Charlie's Bakery. Catherine was very devoted to both her family and church. She attended numerous games and events of her grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Mary's Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Catherine is survived by her children, Rose (Bob) Bina, Cathy (Michael) Richard, Leo (Colleen) Marynik, Robert (Jorjan) Marynik, Tim Marynik, Ron (Deneen) Marynik and Theresa (Jeff) Holkesvig, all of Grand Forks; grandchildren, Tony (Cassidy) Bina, Grand Forks, ND, Aaron (Kristin) Bina, Grand Forks, ND, Robbie Bina, Wolfsburg, Germany, Brian Bina, Duluth, MN, Zach Richard, Jason Weiner, Chris (Katie) Weiner, Matt Marynik, Nicole Marynik, Adam Marynik, Katie Marynik, Dustin Marynik, Jessica Marynik, Brittany Marynik all of Grand Forks; great grandchildren, Aiden, Layla and Logan Bina, Sidney Wiener, Macie Weiner and Chris Green, Grand Forks. Catherine is preceded in death by her husband, August Marynik in 1991; her parents and her step-mother, Mary; brothers, Greg, Severin and Andrew; sisters Ione, Iva and Stacy. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Monday, November 7, 2011 in St. Mary's Catholic Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks.
