Douglas "Doug" C. Bouvette, 64, died on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born September 7, 1947, to Raymond & Janet (Thain) Bouvette in Hallock, MN. Doug and family lived in Pembina, ND until the 10th grade when his family moved to Grand Forks. He graduated from GF Central in 1966. Doug married Marsha McNamee April 6, 1968 in Grand Forks. Doug was inducted into the US Army in February 1969 and served from July 1969 to July 1970 in Vietnam with the 4th Infantry Division in Pleiku and An Khe Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in February 1971 in Fort Riley, KS at the rank of Sergeant. While serving he earned and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroism, the Army Commendation Medal, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Army Air Medal. Doug moved back to Grand Forks following his discharge from the military. He worked for the USDA Potato Research Center in East Grand Forks, MN, retiring in 1994. The past 10 years he has worked for the Grand Forks Park District on the Parks Crew and the maintenance crew at Lincoln Park Golf Course. Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. Doug is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marsha; son, Thain (Tangee) Bouvette of Grand Forks; daughter, Sarah (Troy) Lundeby of Grand Forks and grandchildren, Casey, Nick and Kellan Bouvette and Drew and Jessie Lundeby, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Doug was preceded in death by his parents. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. of Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service.
