Wayne Gerrard

Wayne Gerrard, 82, Forest River, ND died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Wayne was born May 5, 1929 in Cando, ND the third of thirteen children born to George and Mildred (Weiker) Gerrard. He was raised and educated near Cando and Bisbee, ND. Wayne married Opal Belt on September 2, 1949 in Cando, ND. Wayne was a lifelong farmer and worked as a farm manager in both Florida and Missouri before moving to Forest River, ND in 1967. Wayne continued to farm and devoted his life to his work and his family. Following the death of his wife in 2000, Wayne spent winter months in Florida. Survivors include his sons, Ken Gerrard, Rod Gerrard and Greg Gerrard; daughter, Yvonne (Melvin) Armbrust; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 step great grandchild; sisters, Joyce Nelson, Fada Garbe, Jeannine Anderson, Naomi Chromy, Evelyn (Stanley) King, Bonnie (Gib) Sampel, Carol (Willie) Tupa, Mildred (Bruce) Anderson, Gail (Richard) Roller; brothers, George (Marcella) Gerrard and Ron (Carol) Gerrard. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Opal; his parents; sister, Lois Covington and four brothers-in-law. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, November 12, 2011 in the Forest River Community Church of Forest River, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in the Forest River Cemetery.
