Jackie Pesek

Jacquelyn Annette Pesek, 80, of Grand Forks and formerly of Lawton, ND passed away December 13 at the home of daughter Sandi and Son-in Law Doug Newgard of Grand Forks; she was under Altru Hospice care. Jackie was born October 27, 1931 to Louis and Leona Sackenreuter of Lawton, ND. She attended Mayville State College before marrying Bennie Pesek on March 11, 1950. She made a career of raising her family and being of service to others. She volunteered her entire life, donating time to her church; St Catherine's of rural Lawton and Holy Family Catholic Church of Grand Forks. Jackie also volunteered at Altru Hospital, Lawton's community club and cemetery board, the Heart Association and the Cancer Society. She was a dedicated UND sports fan and enjoyed attending a variety of sporting events including baseball for many years. She also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling and bingo. Jackie was well known for her baking ability and homemade bread was one her specialties. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, spouse Bennie, son Craig, granddaughter Ashley, daughter-in-law Brenda, Brother Neal, sisters Donna and Arla. She is survived by her sister Kay Alkofer of Park River; children Sandi (Doug) Newgard of Grand Forks, ND, Rick (Ramona) Pesek of Aberdeen, SD, Nancy Wettels of Hastings, MN, Jeff (Gail) Pesek of Lawrenceville, NJ, Timothy (Joni) Pesek of Elk River, MN and Ben Pesek of Grand Forks, ND. Jackie had 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and she loved them all. Visitation will be Friday December 16th, from 5:00 until 7:00 at the Amundson Funeral Home 2975 42nd Street South in Grand Forks; a prayer service will following at 7:00 PM at the same location. The Funeral service will be Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church 1018 18th Avenue South in Grand Forks 10:00 AM. Lunch will be served and burial will be Saturday afternoon at Lomice cemetery rural Lawton.
