Esther P. Steiner, 84, Grand Forks, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at her home, Tufte Manor, Grand Forks, North Dakota Esther Pauline Fundingsland was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on July 25, 1927 to Omar and Mabel (Holwell) Fundingsland. She attended school in Climax, Minnesota and Maynard, Minnesota, and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1945. Esther Fundingsland and Glenn Steiner were united in marriage in 1947 at Duluth, Minnesota. They lived at Crookston, Minnesota where Esther was employed as a proofreader for the Crookston Times. Glenn Steiner died in October, 1965, and after a short time, Esther moved to Grand Forks and worked for Grand Forks County Social Services until retirement. She was active in bowling leagues in Crookston, and later in Grand Forks, until she was no longer physically able. Esther enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. She is survived by: a daughter, Marilyn Steiner, Grand Forks; sons, Leslie (Fran), Steiner, Roseville, MN, and Maurie Steiner, Grand Forks; 3 grandchildren, Jason, Matthew (Danielle) and their children, Ethan and Zoe, Molly (Ryan) Nielsen and their children, Isaiah, Josiah, Keziah, and Lydiah; a brother, Robert Fundingsland; and 3 sisters, Rita Enge, Marlene (Duane) Hanson, and Diane (Tom) Hilde. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Kathleen Steiner; brothers, Richard and Dale; sisters, Veryl, Alain, Estelle, Joyce, Phyllis, and Carol. Memorial Services: will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Sharon Lutheran Church, 1720 S. 20th St., Grand Forks.
