Carol Y. Gilbraith

Carol Y. Gilbraith, 76, Grand Forks, died Sunday, December 18, 2011 at home. Carol Yvonne Johnson was born to Carl John Johnson and Violet Ruth (Collins) Johnson on August 27, 1935 at Devils Lake, North Dakota. She attended schools at Doyon and Tokio, ND and graduated from Central High School in Devils Lake. She attended Mayville State Teacher's College and upon graduation taught for 2 years in a one room rural school south of Doyon, ND. Carol Johnson and Laurin Gilbraith were united in marriage on May 21, 1955 at Warwick, ND. They lived near Crary, ND and assisted on the family farm until in 1966 they moved to Doyon, ND where Carol was employed in the Post office and store. Laurin and Carol moved to Grand Forks in September, 1972. Carol was employed by Jet Printing and also sold AVON for several years. She later was employed by Dayton's in Grand Forks, for 21 years until she retired. Carol enjoyed reading, fishing, animals, casinos, but most of all her family and friends. Carol is survived by her husband, Laurin, Grand Forks; children, Michael (Char) Gilbraith, Wolverton, MN, Jeffrey Gilbraith, Grand Forks, Tammy (Gary) Adams, Thompson, ND, their children, Andrew and Amanda (fiancee Chris Behne and his daughter, Hannah), and Julie Gilbraith, Rochester, MN; a sister, Grace Griffin, Oberon, ND; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She is preceded in death by her parents, and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Services: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. Prayer Service on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 and one hour prior to the funeral, all in the funeral home. Interment: Crary, ND; Friday, December 23 at 11 a.m.
