Marian Lien

Marian L. Lien, 88, Grand Forks, ND died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Marian Lorraine Lien was born December 15, 1923 in Grand Forks, ND the daughter of Clarence and Hulda (Magnuson) Lien. She was raised near Merrifield, ND and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School. Marian attended UND then graduated from NDSU with a degree in Pharmacy and later earned a masters degree Pharmaceutical Chemistry. She worked as a pharmacist for Larson Torgeson Drug Store in Grand Forks before going to work at the Grand Forks Clinic Pharmacy. She retired in 1989 after 42 years in the pharmacy profession. Marian had a passion for travel. She experienced incredible travels worldwide and her camera showed proof of it. She was an accomplished photographer. We will all cherish the wonderful memories that Marian gave us. Marian was a member of the Sons of Norway Gyda Varden Lodge and United Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. She is survived by her sister, June Lien, Grand Forks. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, C. Ronald Lien and a sister, Donna Holweger. Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 10:30AM in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks.
