Geneva Alexandria Knutson Letnes

Geneva A. Knutson Letnes, 97, passed away in her home in Grand Forks Friday, December 30, 2011. Geneva was born March 2, 1914, to Perry & Sena Christen in Wild Rose, ND. She attended early school there before the family moved to Sharon, ND and later graduated from Aneta High School. She then went to Aaker's Business College. Geneva married Larry Knutson July 3, 1935. They had 3 children. After Larry retired from the Burlington R.R. in 1978, they were blessed with a care-free life. They traveled in their motor home for awhile. Then they bought a home in Arizona, first in Scottsdale and later in Mesa, moving there in 1987. They also enjoyed fishing together at their lake home at Maple Lake. Larry passed away March 23, 1996. Geneva married Dan Letnes, and he later died in 2008. Geneva's lifetime volunteerism encompassed YMCA, Girl Scouts, Public Library, Deaconess Hospital, Red Cross, Valley Memorial Homes, Peoni Garden Shows and many others. She was a 76 year member of United Lutheran Church and was a member of St. Peter's Church in Mesa, AZ. Geneva is survived by her loving children, Doris (John) Black of Houston, TX, Sandra (Cliff) Busch of Menahga, MN; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Larry & Dan; son, Larry Robert Knutson; granddaughter, Vickie Gant; sister, Pearl Patterson and brother, Melvin Christen. **In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Valley Memorial Homes 2900 14th Ave. S., United Lutheran Church 324 Chestnut St. or a charity of your choice. FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 at United Lutheran Church 324 Chestnut St. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral service at the church. INTERMENT: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
