Marvin Davis

Marvin H. Davis, 94, Grand Forks, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in Valley Memorial Homes - Valley Eldercare Center, Grand Forks. Marvin Hill Davis was born on January 17, 1917 to Elvin B. and Hulda (Hill) Davis. He was delivered during a snow storm on their family farm in Farmington Township, Walsh County, ND. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Thomas, ND, a church where his grandfather, Andrew Davis, was a founding member. Marvin attended school through 8th grade at Union School District #40 in St. Thomas Township, St. Thomas. He farmed on the family farm in the Auburn - St. Thomas areas until his retirement in 1999. He lived on the family farm until 2007 when he moved to Grand Forks, ND. Marvin enjoyed being outdoors, farming, gardening, driving the country side looking at the crops, and spending time with his family and his dogs. He married Evelyn A. Anderson on December 2, 1936 in Crookston, Minnesota. Marvin is survived by his children, Richard "Skip" Davis, Grafton, ND and his fiancée, Renee Moon, Grand Forks, Pam (Larry) Boltz, Grand Forks; grandchildren, Tamara Kissell (Brian McAfee), Prior Lake, MN, Brenda (Greg) Stommes, Lakeville, MN, Missy (Allen) Geis, Shakopee, MN, Corey (Felix) Davis, St. Thomas, ND, Shannon (Michael) Kringstad, St. Thomas, ND, Stephanie Boltz, Fargo, ND, and Shawn (Theresa) Boltz, Grand Forks; 7 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Eleanor Aasand, Grafton ND. Marvin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew and Sophia (Olson) Davis, Edward K. and Mathilda (Erickson) Hill; parents, Elvin B. and Hulda (Hill) Davis; sister, Harriet Griffiths; brother, Percy Davis; wife, Evelyn; daughter, Marlene Greening; son, Randy Davis; and grandson, Mark Davis.
