Evelyn Uhrich Prowse

Evelyn M. Uhrich Prowse, 78, of Grand Forks, ND passed away peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2012, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by her loving family in her home. Evelyn Martha Schneider was born April 11, 1933 in Wales, ND the daughter of Peter J. and Adelinda (Metzger) Schneider. Evelyn grew up and attended school in Wales and earned her teaching certificate from Valley City State College. She married James Uhrich on November 3, 1953. She married Jerry Prowse in June of 1977. Jerry passed away in 1997. Evelyn worked for Community National Bank from 1967 until retiring in 1994 after 26 years. After she retired, she worked part time over the years at Ben Franklin Elementary School lunch program, Hancock Fabric, Cranberry Junction and did demos at Sam's Club. Evelyn loved doing crafts, sewing, taking walks, puzzles and having lunches with family and friends. She enjoyed watching "Golden Girls", "Wheel of Fortune" and "Dancing with the Stars". She especially loved spending time with her beloved family, friends and beloved dog, "Buster". Evie was a wonderful, kind, loving person to everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all and remain forever in our hearts. Evelyn is survived by: Daughters: Patty (Larry) Regorrah - Grand Forks Kim (Rick) Nelson - East Grand Forks, MN Anne Marie (Richard) Zimmer - Grand Forks Renee Shelton - Kansas City, MO Sons: Greg (Lori) Uhrich - Grand Forks Michael (Sharon) Prowse - Creston, CA Bob (Jackie) Prowse - Fargo Sisters: Lorraine Imdieke - Tempe, AZ Cyrilla (Cal) Shortridge - Grand Forks Dolores (Lorne) Eickenbrock - Grand Forks Annabel (Marlin) Konze - Cottage Grove, MN Brothers: Glen (Alyce) Schneider - Sioux Falls Larry (Lorraine) Schneider - Wichita, KS Grandchildren, Kristal (Nelson) Grinde, Tara Nelson, Brandon Uhrich, Jewel Uhrich, Paige Farder, Austin Farder, Ava Birkholz, Mitch Prowse, Neil Prowse, Miles Prowse, Ashley (Zimmer) Sandeen, Alyssa (Zimmer) Bleninger and Nicole Shelton. Great Grandchildren: Taylor and Teagan Grinde; Lauren, Jordan and Audrey Prowse Several Nieces and Nephews She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; three infant daughters; her stepmother; stepbrothers, Kenneth Dosmann, Lyle Dosmann; and brother-in-law, Leroy Imdieke. **In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial to be given to Altru Hospice, Comfort Keepers or Hope Foundation @ the Cancer Center of ND in the Aurora Medical Park. A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 10:30 AM in St. Michael's Catholic Church, 524 5th Ave. North, Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour before the service in the church. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery in the spring.
