Lois Northey

March 15, 1933 — January 23, 2012

Lois Ruth Northey passed away peacefully in the home of her son Jeffrey and his wife Kay in Grand Forks, ND on Jan. 23, 2012. She was born on March 15, 1933 to Carl and Gladys Oestreich on a dairy farm in Pipersville, WI and as a child attended St. Stephens Christian School in Concord, WI. Lois was married to Donald Wayne Northey on Aug. 4, 1951. Lois and Don had 6 children; Bruce (Vicky Wright), Greg, Jeff (Kay Schmidt), Julie, Jill and DuWayne (Karen Poindexter) including 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was a beloved Mother, homemaker, owner and manager of a home cleaning business, Mary Kay and Pampered Chef Consultant and most recently she and Don managed the Woodland Village Apartments in Rice Lake, WI. Throughout their marriage they resided in Sullivan, WI on the family farm, Phelps, WI; Sawyer, MI; Rice Lake, WI and lastly, Grand Forks, ND. Lois's greatest joy was caring for her family. She loved to prepare mountains of delicious and nutritious food for them. Everyone's favorite was Himmels Ftter, a wonderful German dessert. She and her family attended St. Stephens Lutheran Church, where she joyfully served as an organist for the congregation. One of her greatest joys was sharing her experience in what God meant in her life and always showed selfless giving. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Neil and Chuck, son DuWayne and grandson DuWayne JR. Visitation: will be held Friday at 1:00pm on Jan. 27, 2012, in Gospel Outreach Ministries, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral service: will be held Friday January 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.in Gospel Outreach Ministries, 321 Belmont Rd., Grand Forks, ND. Bishop Michael R. Cole will be officiating the service. Burial will be held in the spring of 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorials go to Donald Northey at 230 27th Ave. South, Grand Forks, ND 58201.
