Richard Lee Thompson, 59, of Grand Forks, ND died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Richard L. Thompson was born on July 18, 1952 in Minneapolis, MN the son of Marvin and Phyllis (Sterma) Thompson. He grew up and attended school in Minneapolis, MN graduating from High School there. Richard served in the United States Air Force for 20 years before retiring in 1991 and being honorably discharged, he was a member of the Red Horse Division from 1973 - 1980. Richard married Mun Yong Cha "Linda" in 1980. He married Tina Sivertson on September 25, 1993. Richard currently worked for Waste Management in Grand Forks. Richard enjoyed hunting, four-wheeling and camping. He was also a member of the East Grand Forks American Legion for 29 years.
