Clinton Knutson

Clinton Percy Knutson, 84, of Grafton, ND, formerly of Devils Lake, ND, died on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton. He was born on January 6th, 1928 in Grafton, ND, to Minnie and Clarence Knutson. Clint had three brothers Marvin, Leslie and Eugene and one sister Lorraine (Sholes). Clint grew up on the family farm near Grafton and attended District 23 School (4 miles West of Grafton) and high school in Adams, ND. He joined the Navy in 1946 and proudly served in the South Pacific. After serving in the Navy, Clint returned to Grafton and worked at Gambles Skogmo. On September 5th, 1954, Clint was united in marriage to Dolores (Dorrie) Nadine Johnson at Mountain Lutheran Church in Adams. They lived in Adams where he owned Clint's Gambles Store. They later moved to Devils Lake where Clint worked at Lake Motor Service for 30 years. Clint retired in 1994 after working at Home of Economy for 10 years. Clint was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church serving on the church council, the VFW, the Auto Dealers Association and the American Legion. He was a consummate handyman, enjoyed listening to country music, playing guitar, and gardening. He was an avid hockey fan. Clint was preceded in death by his wife Dorrie (2011), parents Clarence (1956) and Minnie (1981), brothers Marvin Knutson, Leslie Knutson, sister Lorraine Sholes, and Jennifer Knutson (daughter-in-law). Clint is survived by his brother Eugene,Auburn, WA; his daughters, Laurie Buresh (John), Vadnais Heights, MN, and Tammy Campbell (Bill) Grafton; his son, Mark Knutson, Santa Ana, CA; his grandchildren, Jon Campbell, Crystal Lake, IL; David Campbell, Fargo; Alexander Buresh, St. Paul, MN; Paul Campbell, Grand Forks; Anna Buresh, Minneapolis (currently studying in Rome, Italy) and Matthew Knutson, Santa Ana, CA. We wish to thank the staff at Wheatland Terrace in Grand Forks and the staff at the Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton. We appreciate your remarkable care and amazing compassion for Clint and for our family. Funeral services will be on Friday, February 3rd 2012, at 11:00 AM at the Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 2nd, 2012, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Interment: Grafton Lutheran Church Cemetery
