Ilene J. Stamness

Ilene J. Stamness, 85, Grand Forks, passed away peacefully with loving famiy at her side on Saturday, February 4, 2012 in 4000 Valley Square - Woodside Village. Ilene Janet Felton was born to Edward and Blanche (Christensen) Felton on December 12, 1926 in Jamestown, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in Grand Forks. Ilene Felton and Wayne E. Stamness were united in marriage on October 14, 1944 in Grand Forks. She was employed as a cook at UND and later cooked for the daycare at the YMCA and at the Social Science Research Institute at UND, retiring at age 81. Ilene is survived by her children, JoAnn Lawrence, Grand Forks, Terry (Diana) Stamness, San Antonio, TX, Gail Stamness, Bismarck, ND, Mike (Nancy) Stamness, Minot, ND, Nancy Johnson, Grand Forks, Laurie Stamness, Grand Forks; 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Evelyn) Felton, Grand Forks; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wayne; an infant daughter, Kathy; and a brother, Robert Felton. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 in University Lutheran Church, 2122 University Ave., Grand Forks. Visitation: will be one hour prior to the service in the church Interment: will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks. The family suggests memorials be designated University Lutheran Church.
