Marvin Seielstad, 93, Grand Forks, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 in Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks. Marvin Orlando Seielstad was born on April 19, 1918, to Mathias and Selma (Swan) Seielstad, in Marsh Grove township of Marshall County MN. He was baptized at Bethania Lutheran Church near his boyhood home. The family later moved to Newfolden MN. He was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and attended school in Newfolden, graduating from Newfolden High School in 1938. After graduation he worked as a trackman for Great Northern Railroad. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1942 and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. Marvin was Honorably Discharged in November of 1945. He moved to Grand Forks ND and spent his career working for Burlington Northern Railroad as a mail clerk. Marvin was a solitary man and never married. In his retirement years he shared a home with his sister, Synneva. Marvin was a resident of Valley Elder Care in Grand Forks ND at the time of his death. Marvin is survived by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Synneva Seielstad, Clarice Sherva, Lillian Robidoux and Velma Christiansen, and brother, Wallace Seielstad. Marvin O. Seielstad died on Feb 12, 2012 at the age of 93 years 9 months and 24 days. May his memory be blessed. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the memorials are preferred.
