Orman D. Steffens

Orman D. Steffens, 79, of Grand Forks, ND died Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo, ND after a year long battle with lung cancer. Orman DuWayne Steffens was born on July 29, 1932 in Fairmount, ND the son of Edward and Willamina (Mahler) Steffens. He grew up and attended school in Fairmount, ND. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 until being honorably discharged. Orman married his high school sweetheart Janis Deans on August 16, 1953. They lived in Grand Forks and Orman career consisted of managing and accounting for CENEX Stations in Minnesota and North Dakota. Orman enjoyed gardening, tending his roses, mowing the lawn and fishing with his many Minnesota and Wisconsin friends. Orman is survived by: Wife: Janis Son: Scott (Crystal) Steffens - Grand Forks Daughter: Julie Steffens - Fargo Brothers: Lowell Steffens - Berea, Ohio Delmer (Leola) Steffens - Fairmount, ND Terry (Sandy) Steffens - Fairmount, ND Sisters: Cleo Myrha - Hermitage, PA Connie Polifka - Perham, MN Cheryl Awe - Amarillo, TX Orman was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Carraher; 1 sister-in-law and 4 brother-in-laws. Memorials are preferred to the Veterans Administration, 2101 North Elm St., Fargo, ND 58102. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 south 42nd St., Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for one hour before the service in the funeral home.
