Irene Isabelle Campbell

Irene Isabelle Campbell, 91, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away February 22, 2012 at Prairieview Woodside Village, Valley 4000. Irene was born June 6, 1920 on a farm near Aneta, ND the daughter of Ingvald and Ina (Christen) Running. She attended Valley City Teachers College and St. Lukes Hospital School of Nursing in Fargo where she graduated in 1942 as a Registered Nurse. She worked at St. Lukes Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Irene was united in marriage to John Angus Campbell on June 6, 1943 at West Union Church, rural Northwood, ND. John and Irene made their home and farmed on the Lilac Hedge Farm for 58 years before moving to Wheatland Terrace, 4000 Valley Square, Grand Forks in November 2004. Irene was a member of Schurmeier Homemakers Club for many years and United Lutheran Church Women. She also did many kinds of crafts. For over twenty years, John and Irene spent winters in Harlingen, TX where they enjoyed square and round dancing. They were members of Shirts and Skirts square dance club. Irene is survived by her children: Ina Jane (Ardell) Korynta, Grand Forks, ND; Jon (Carol) Campbell, Aneta, ND; and Don (Priscilla) Campbell, Grand Forks, ND; eight grandchildren; three great granddaughters; one great grandson; brother-in-law Wallace Campbell of California; and several nieces and nephews.
