Marjorie Leona Krogstad

Marjorie Leona Krogstad, 89, Grand Forks, North Dakota, and formerly of Reynolds, North Dakota, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 4000 Valley Square Woodside Village, Grand Forks. Marjorie Johnson was born near Max, ND on May 31, 1922 to Bennie and Mina (Haugen) Johnson. Upon her mother's death she made her home with her grandparents, Axel and Maren Haugen, and later with her aunt, Ethel Haugen (Nan) who she came to love and remember as her mother. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Reynolds and later was active there as a Sunday school teacher, quilter and WELCA member. Marjorie graduated from Reynolds High School and attended business college in Grand Forks. Prior to her marriage she was employed in Hillsboro and Grand Forks at the Selective Service Office. Her husband, Joe, always teased her that she'd sent him off to war. On June 10, 1944 she was united in marriage to Joseph Krogstad of Reynolds. They lived and farmed west of Reynolds. After Joe retired from farming, they enjoyed their bus trips and other travels. Marjorie loved to read novels, embroider and play Bingo and cards. Surviving Marjorie are 3 daughters: Jane (Larry) Holm, Grand Forks; Linda (Steve) Walen, Reynolds; Lorie (Steve) Grotte, Grand Forks. Also surviving are grandchildren: Mark Holman, Rochelle (Brent) Hanson, Kathryn Holman, Nicole Vaughn, Christopher Holm, Robert (Sarah) Rowland, Brent Walen, Shannon (Stefan) Hofer, Shane Grotte (Erin Romuld) and Mark Grotte ; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Harold Gasmann; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Hegstad and Jeanette Krogstad Quanbeck; brother-in-law, Adolph Krogstad; step sister-in-law, Betty Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2009; daughter, Mary Holman; son-in-law, Charles "Mike" Rowland; 5 brothers, 3 sisters, and 1 step-brother. Memorial Services: 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 12, 2012 in Zion Lutheran Church, Reynolds, North Dakota. Visitation: 5 to 7 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd Street, Grand Forks and for an hour prior to the service in the church. Interment: (spring) Americus Cemetery, Reynolds Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials be designed to Zion Lutheran Church, Reynolds, or a charity of the donor's choice.
