Carol S. Norton, 74, Grand Forks, formerly of Minot, North Dakota died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at home in Grand Forks. Carol Shelene Hornaday was born at Parshall, North Dakota on September 28, 1937 to Loyal and Gertie Sophie (Wadholm) Hornaday. She raised and educated at Parshall and graduated from Parshall High School. She attended college at Concordia College, St. Paul, Minnesota. Carol was a nurses aide in various nursing homes before becoming a cook. She cooked for many years at various restaurants. On August 21, 1954 Carol Hornaday and Eugene N. Norton were united in marriage at Parshall, North Dakota. Mr. Norton died at home on November 28, 1996. Carol enjoyed gardening, flowers, animals, attending rodeos, fishing, and the outdoors. She loved writing letters to many pen-pals. She was a people person. Her sons, Bradley and Lance have cared for Carol from the the time her husband, Eugene died until the time of Carol's death. Carol is survived by her sons, Brad and Lance, both of Grand Forks, Rocky, Watford City, ND; numerous grandchildren; sisters, Yvonne Olson, Fern Skarphol, Sharon Erickson, Marsha Peterson, Lori Ruland; brothers, Forrest Hornaday, Lynn Hornaday, and Ricky Hornaday. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Kelly Norton; a sister, Bonnie Hornaday. Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time on Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Redeemer Church, Grassy Butte, North Dakota Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St.,Grand Forks and for one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment: Community Cemetery, Grassy Butte, North Dakota Memorials, letters, and cards can be directed to Brad or Lance Norton, 925 N. 43rd St. H-70, Grand Forks, North Dakota 58203. Arrangements are with Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks, and Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City, North Dakota.
