Hattie Mary Bragg, 92, passed away on March 12, 2012, at her home in Manvel, ND. Hattie was born on November 29, l919 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Ernest and Frances Landon. Hattie attended elementary school in Turtle River Number 2 in rural Manvel. She graduated from Manvel High School in the class of l937. She worked at the Barrel as curb hop during summers during high school, later she worked as a waitress at Blacks Sweet Shop on Demers Ave. in Grand Forks while she attended Aakers Business College where she completed a two year business course. Hattie was united in marriage with Orval Bragg on July 8, 1940 in Red Lake Falls, MN. Hattie became a farm wife and mother to Daryl Bragg in l941. Hattie went to work a bookkeeper/Secretary at the Farmers Union Elevator in Manvel in 1947 when Daryl began elementary school. Hattie spent 38 years as the public face of the Farmers Union Elevator getting the opportunity to know farmers from Manvel North to the Canadian border. Hattie was a life-long sports fan who continued to watch Major League Baseball and the NBA Basketball until her death.Hattie also volunteered at the Manvel Senior Center for several years after her retirement. Hattie is survived by her son, Daryl Bragg of Grand Forks, her grandson, Kurt Bragg of Huntington Beach, CA, her sister, Esther Mathewson of Owego, NY, and her loving caregiver, Kathy Gordon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Frances Landon, her husband, Orval Bragg, and her sister, Edna Thiede. FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Manvel Congregational Church. VISITATION: One hour prior the service at the church.
