Nita Pfeiffer

August 24, 1940 — March 27, 2012

Juanita "Nita" Jane Pfeiffer, passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 following a lengthy illness. Juanita Jane Pfenning was born on a farm north of Zap, ND on August 24, 1940. She was the third child of Albert and Ethel Pfenning. The family moved to Golden Valley, ND when Nita was 6. She graduated from high school at Golden Valley. She continued her education at Minot State College, receiving her Teaching Certificate. She began her teaching career in Glasgow, MT where she met and married Brian Pfeiffer, her husband of 51 years. They had two children, Michael and Lisa and lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota. In 1974 they moved to Grand Forks. Nita earned her BSN degree in nursing from UND. She worked as a RN for four months and then medically retired due to a bicycle accident. Nita was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed visiting with friends, reading and listening to talking books on tape Nita is survived by her husband, Brian; son, Michael of Grand Forks; daughter, Lisa of Minneapolis; brother, Marvin, Minot, ND; sister, Eunice Huber, Hebron, ND; also surviving are several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel; father, Albert; and by a younger brother, Delvin. Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 14, 2012 in Sharon Lutheran Church, 1720 S. 20th St, Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church.
