Dorothy Winge

Dorothy E. Winge, 91, Hobart, IN and formerly of Grand Forks, ND died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in Hobart. Dorothy Elizabeth Brown was born February 2, 1921 in Manvel, ND to Ruvia and Roy Brown. She was raised and educated in Manvel where she enjoyed playing basketball. Dorothy married Henry Winge on August 27, 1939 in Grand Forks, ND. They lived in Hampden, ND before moving to Lakota, ND where Dorothy worked for many years at the Johnson Store. They enjoyed fishing and traveling together. They later moved to Grand Forks, ND and spent winter months in Texas. In 1989, they celebrated their 5oth wedding anniversary in Grand Forks. Henry Winge died April 19, 1990. Dorothy moved to Indiana to be near her daughter. Dorothy liked to do crossword puzzles in the newspaper and play bingo, but her real love was reading and writing poetry. She also liked to play board games like farkle. She had a real green thumb so there were always flowers everywhere. Dorothy is survived be her daughter, Judy Kroh of Hobart, IN; son, David (Linda) Winge of Fargo, ND, son John (Darnell) Winge of Haines, AK; son-in-law, Larry Bushaw of Hobart, IN; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; sisters Kathy Danks and Jo Ann DeMars; and brother, Roy Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; daughter, Margaret "Peggy "; sisters, Viola ,Virginia and Ruvia and by brothers, Joe ,George , Robert and Bill. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for one hour before the services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery of Grand Forks, ND.
