Elizabeth (Betty) Jacobi, 89, of Grand Forks, died May 9, 2012 at 4000 Valley Square Woodside Village. Betty was born June 30, 1922, in Detroit Lakes, MN, the daughter of Jay & Esther Norby. She attended school in Detroit Lakes and the University of North Dakota. On December 18, 1943, she married Charles (Bud) Jacobi, in Detroit Lakes, MN. They went to Camp Shelby in Hattusburg, MS, for 3 months and then Bud was sent to Italy as a member of the 34th Red Bull Division. He served in Italy until the European War was over. Betty was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, member of Chapter AO of the PEO sisterhood. She was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. Betty enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She volunteered for many things during her years in Grand Forks. Betty is survived by her son, Robert (Ellen) Jacobi; daughter, Jayne Kennelly; grandsons, Jim & Chris Kennelly, Patrick, Jeff, Chuck Jacobi; great-grandchildren, Paige, Brooke, Joey, Griffin, and Miles Kennelly. They were all an important part of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud. Memorials are preferred to Altru Hospice, St. Paul's Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice. MEMORIAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the church.
