Luverne Merrilyn Haarsager

Luverne Merrilyn (Berg) Haarsager, 88, of East Grand Forks, MN passed away May 29, 2012 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Luverne was born March 8, 1924, the daughter of Lydia (Furtan) and Mathew Berg in St. Thomas, ND. Her mother passed away when she was 14 months old and she was raised by her aunt and uncle in Braham, MN until she was 10 years old. They moved back to St. Thomas, ND where she lived with her father after the passing of her aunt and uncle. Luverne attended country school in Braham, MN and finished her education in St. Thomas. On January 17, 1946 she married Clifford J. Haarsager in Grand Forks, ND. They lived in the Grand Forks area where she worked as a housekeeper for several families. Luverne enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, bingo and spending time with her family & friends. She thoroughly enjoyed her time with all her grandchildren. Survivors include her children; Karen (Ken) Ebertowski, Guy (Karen) Haarsager, Nancy (Ken) Nice and Kristie (Perry) Wolff; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and 1 sister. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service. INTERMENT: St. Thomas City Cemetery, St. Thomas, ND.
