Catherine Olson died peacefully at home on May 29, 2012--25 days before her 95th birthday. Catherine was born in Madelia, MN, graduated from Mankato Teachers College in 1937 and taught school in Jordan, MN. She married Edward Lowell Olson in 1941in Madelia, MN. After WWII, they moved to Minneapolis (where Ed began his banking career). They relocated to Grand Forks in 1948. Catherine was an active member of United Lutheran Church, Myra Museum Craft Guild, PEO Chapter T, DAR and of course her bridge club. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward L. Olson and son-in-law Art Loyland. Catherine is survived by daughters Mary Loyland (Grand Forks), Jane Kryst (Jack) Bemidji, MN and Betsy Cipriano (John) Oakland, CA; grandchildren Michael Loyland (Karna) Grand Forks, Stacey Loyland Asbury (Reid), Mt. Lebannon, PA, Jesse Roque (Russell) Minneapolis, MN and John Kryst (Erica) Durham, NH; and great grandsons Soren, Peter, George, Sam, Henry and Frankie. The family suggests memorials in her honor to United Lutheran Church Foundation, the Myra Museum or the Grand Forks Community Foundation. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in United Lutheran Church, Grand Forks. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in East Walle Cemetery, Thompson.
