Clara Murphy-Ebert

Clara Murphy-Ebert (nee' Martinson), 91, of Grand Forks, ND died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Valley Eldercare Center, Grand Forks, ND. Clara was born on February 25, 1921 at home in Northfield Township, Ramsey County, ND the daughter of Orvie and Therese (Reinertson) Martinson. She graduated from Edmore HighSchool in 1939, and also graduated from Aakers' Business College in 1945. She married Eugene Murphy in Grand Forks, ND on April 27, 1946.Clara and Eugenehad five children: Donald(Carol) of Glenoma, WA, Gary of Chandler, AZ, Eileen Grabanski (Clarion) of Renton, WA, Karen Frovarp (Arnold) of Grand Forks, and Kathleen Murphy (Terri Davis) of Camp Hill, PA. Eugenepassed away on April 29, 1989 in Grand Forks. Clara married Ernest Ebert on June 7, 1997 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Ernest passed away on December 31, 2009. Our mother enjoyed a very close relationship with Ernest'ssix daughters: Ellen, Alice, Marjorie, Joyce,Barbara and Marion. She is survived by, 14 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, sisters Thelma Hettervig living in Fargo, ND, Shirley Gilbraith of Grand Forks, and Doris Marshall of St. Anthony, MN. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ollieand Curtis Martinson,her sister Laurel Larson and grandson Daniel Falla. She worked for 20 years at the Valley Memorial Home located on Almont Avenue in Grand Forksas a nursing assistant.Mom and Ernesthad previously been active in the SunshineBand while they attended the Grand Forks Senior Citizen's Center. She enjoyed harmonizing with the music on the Lawrence Welk show, and listening to 'big band' music. Mom loved her children, grandchildren and a good cup of coffee. Mom's smile and laughter will be missed by all of us!
