Donald Wright

Donald E. Wright, 78, Grand Forks, died Friday, June 8, 2012 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center, Grand Forks. Donald Eugene Wright was born in Grand Forks on February 6, 1934 to John Eugene "Gene" and Charlotte (Sayer) Wright. He attended St. Michael's School and graduated from St. James Academy in Grand Forks. Donald served in the US Navy from January, 1953 to January 1957 during the Korean War. Donald Wright and Carolyn Garritson were married on June 20, 1959 in Grand Forks. Donald Wright and Margaret Christopherson Deitz were married on April 24, 1981 in Grand Forks. Donald was employed as a driver-operator for the City of Grand Forks Fire Department, retiring in January, 1996 after 39 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing crossword puzzles. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, Grand Forks; children, Debra Wright, Grand Forks, Donald A. (Teryl) Wright, Grand Forks, Nancy (Tim) Vodden, Grand Forks, and Douglas (Kathy) Wright, Grand Forks; 6 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; step-children, Susie (Don) Wurzbacher, Grand Forks, James (Jennifer) Deitz, Grand Forks, Joanne (Sheldon) Kalal, Reynolds, ND, Nancy Solem, Grand Forks, Diane (Chuck) Churchill, Grand Forks, Don Deitz, Devils Lake, ND, Michael (Lori) Deitz, Seattle, Washington. He is preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Service: will be 3:30 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 in Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, North, Grand Forks.
