Jack R. Wavra, 79, of Grand Forks, ND died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at home. Jack Ray Wavra was born on February 19, 1933 in East Grand Forks, MN the son of Emil and Alfreda (Tudie) Wavra. He attended school in East Grand Forks and graduated from high school there in 1951. He entered the U.S. Army and served in Korea. On his return he married Gaylene Thoreson at United Lutheran Church. Jack resumed his education at the University of North Dakota and graduated in 1958 with a degree in banking and finance. He worked for 1st Bank Stock Corporation for several years and later president of Valley Dairy. For the last twenty five years Jack has been working for Greenberg Realty. Since 1996 Jack and Gaylene have spent their winters in Arizona. Jack is survived by: Wife: Gaylene - Grand Forks Son: Jon (Kathleen) Wavra - Dallas, TX Daughters: Roberta Wavra - Grand Forks Joni (Brad) Gaudry - Minto, ND Grandchildren: Jay, Jaclyn and Marie Great Grandson: Quentin Sister: Joann (Bob) Sauter - Sun City, AZ Brother-in-law: Dale(Veronica) Thoreson - Grand Forks Sister-in-law: Darlyn Wavra - Milwaukee, WI Many nieces and nephews Jack was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark; grandson, Chad; sisters, Faye and Jean; brothers, Lyle, Don and Dale. Memorial services will be Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM in United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut Street, Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour before the service in the church. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks.
