Betty Jean Anderson

Betty J. Anderson, 88, of Grand Forks, died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Wood-side Village in Grand Forks. Betty was born October, 16, 1923, the daughter of Henry & Betsy Brenna in Brenna Township. Betty was baptized and confirmed at Evanger Lutheran Church. She grew up and attended schools in Brenna #13, a one room school house where she was taught by her sister Irene. Betty then moved to GF where she, cousin Donna, sister Bunny shared a one room apartment while attending GF Central High School. graduating in 1941. Betty married Harold "Andy" Anderson, her soul mate June 23, 1945. Betty "Grandma Cookie" was a wonderful homemaker specializing in lefsa, mashed potatoes and gravy, and potato dumplings all made with lots of love. Betty, with Harold, owned and operated Anderson Upholstery for over 35 years. Betty enjoyed many years with the Valley Rose 4-H Club with her daughter. Betty enjoyed her camaraderie with the Brenna Gals Country Club. She enjoyed bowling, golfing on Tuesday night Lincoln league, and attending Sioux hockey games. Betty and Andy were avid followers of their children and grandchildren's sporting events taking them throughout the Midwest. For 40 + years she truly enjoyed her time fishing, pontooning ,and playing numerous card games with family and friends on Cass Lake, MN. Betty is survived by her children, Chuck (Candy) Anderson, Fayetteville, AR; Dick Anderson, Pensacola, FL; Cherie (Gary) Rogalla, Grand Forks; Tim (Tammy) Anderson, Grand Forks; grandchildren, Brad Anderson, Madison, SD, Zack (Nicole) Anderson, Boynton Beach, FL; Jen (Glenn) Champlin, Hillsboro, OR, Jubal Anderson, Pensacola, FL; Ryan (Sara) Rogalla, Thief River Falls, MN, Travis Rogalla, Minneapolis, MN: Ben Anderson, Minneapolis, MN, Colter Anderson, Tucson, AZ; great-grandchildren: Brett and Geneva Champlin, AJ and Johnny Rogalla, Abby Anderson, and Austin and Leif Anderson; sisters-in-law, Ruth Brenna and Helen Crumbley, her sister-like cousin Donna Partlow, and numerous nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; siblings, Irene, Bunny, Willard and Kenneth. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012 at Amundson Funer-al Home 2975 S. 42nd St. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: 5:00-6:30 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, Thursday, June 21 at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue for the hour prior to the funeral service.
