Sue McGurran

Susan Lee McGurran, 64, died July 5, 2012, with her family by her side at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 10, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral; interment: Calvary Cemetery North. Sue was born January 9, 1948, in Geneva, Illinois, to Jack and Betty (Collins) Fischer. She met and married her husband, Tim McGurran, in Grand Forks, on January 15, 1966. She worked as a bus driver for Dietrich Bus Service and for many years as a home childcare provider. Her days were filled with her children and grandchildren, where she enjoyed spending time with them playing cards and sitting on the front porch tending to her flowers and tomato plants and sharing her love with them. She loved to fish and has many fond memories of spending time with her family at Maple Lake, and along the banks of the Red River and Red Lake River near Fisher, Minnesota, where her husband was raised and youngest daughter lives. She was actively involved in Bible Studies with her daughters. She enjoyed sharing her faith with others and prayed often for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She was very concerned about world and government affairs, and loved watching the weather channel. She loved listening to her music and being in her home. She is survived by her husband, Timothy, Grand Forks; children Steven (Nida) McGurran, Virginia Beach, VA; Janet (Thomas) Johnson, Birmingham, AB; Tammy (Keith) Haus, Arvilla, ND; Nancy (Dennis) Jenson, Fisher, MN; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Jack (Bonnie) Fischer, Trenton, MI; Larry (Sarah) Fischer, Milton, FL; Dale (Melanie) Fischer, Manassas, VA; Jonnie Fischer, Seven Valleys, PA; sisters, Nancy (Jeff) Folkenroth, Seven Valleys, PA; Judy (Steve) Birriel, Dover, PA; and Linda Beverly, Copley, OH. She is preceded in death by her parents.
