Francis J. Majors, 95, of Grand Forks, ND died Saturday, July 7, 2012 in Woodside Village, Grand Forks, ND. Francis J. Majors was born August 1, 1916 in Shaunavon, Sask. the son of Charles Majors and Clara (Monek) Majors. He grew up and attended school in Jamestown, ND. He graduated from St.John's Academy and was a bank teller at the James Rivers National Bank. He was inducted with the National Guard in April of 1941 and served as a Sergeant in Battery C, 188th FA. He later transferred to the Paratroops and served eighteen months with the 11th Airborne Division in the South Pacific. He jumped many times behind enemy lines and ultimately received a Purple Heart. After returning from the war Francis married Colleen Elizabeth Murphy. He then became a state tax auditor for the state of North Dakota. They had three children. Francis married Betty Catherine McMenamy on July 2,1976 in Grand Forks, ND. Francis loved his church and served as an usher at 8:30 Mass for many years. He looked forward to watching and listening to the Minnesota Twins and the North Dakota Fighting Sioux Hockey games. He loved to travel and was very proud of the number of states he and Betty had visited. Francis is survived by: Dr. Patrick (Beth) Majors - St. Louis, MO Anne Eppler (Michael Brewer) - West Fargo, ND Step children - Larry (Dianne) McMenamy - East Grand Forks, MN John McMenamy - Marengo, IL Marybeth McMenamy - Grand Forks, ND Kathy (Brian) Johnson - Grand Forks, ND Erin (Rick) Ziegelmann - Grand Forks, ND Colleen McMenamy - Crookston, MN Susan McMenamy - Grand Forks, ND 22 Grandchildren 36 Great Grandchildren Francis was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Colleen Murphy Majors; second wife, Betty Catherine McMenamy; son, Timothy Majors; step-son, Patrick McMenamy and brother, Bernard Majors. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 10:30 AM in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 216 Belmont Road, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for one hour before the service in the church. Internment and Military Honors will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore, ND
