Marlene Rux, 76, Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Marlene Janice Thomasson was born on July 31, 1936 to Sig and Evie (Severtson) Thomasson in Grand Forks. Marlene graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1954. She attended Aaker's Business College and upon graduation she worked for Gross-Anderson Architect Firm. She married Larry Rux on September 15, 1956 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. They were blessed with three children, Jeannie, Mike and Danny. She later worked as a librarian at Grand Forks Central from 1968-2004 and then at Century Elementary School from 1994 to 2004, retiring in 2004. Marlene was also a business partner in Rux Painting. Marlene loved to read and over the years read thousands of books. She also enjoyed spending summers at Roy Lake, Minnesota with her family and friends. Marlene was an avid UND sports fan. She also enjoyed watching movies on Lifetime and Hallmark channels. To all who knew Marlene, she was small in stature but had the largest heart, always giving endless love to her family and friends. Marlene is survived by her three children, Jeaninne (Scott) Durkee, Wausau, WI, Mike (fiancée, Jan Osowski) Rux, and Danny Rux, all of Grand Forks; two granddaughters, Morgan and Callie Rux, Grand Forks; sister-in-law Nancy (Bear) Jensen, Park River, ND, and Doris Thomasson; Fridley, MN; five nephews and one niece. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry, and a brother, Richard (Dick) Thomasson. Funeral Services: 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation: will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment: will immediately follow the funeral service at Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks.
