Roy F Schnebli

Roy Frederick Schnebli, 88, Grand Forks, passed away at home on Thursday, August 30, 2012. Roy was born January 19, 1924 in Grand Forks, N.D. to Fred and Clara (Boe) Schnebli. He graduated from Central High School and later attended U.N.D. On October 19, 1942 Roy enlisted in the US Army and served with the 357th Infantry Anti -Tank Regiment and 94th Infantry, landing on Utah Beach and winding up in Czechoslovakia at the end of the War. Roy was very proud to have served his country and was honorably discharged on December 27, 1945 at the rank of Staff-Sergeant and was awarded the Bronze Star, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, American Theatre Service Ribbon, and Good Conduct medals. Roy married Bernice Emily Brecke in April, 1949 and they had two children, Rod and Roxanne. Bernice died February 7, 1966. Roy married Bernadette Bushee Kuzel on October, 1972. Bernadette died January 16, 2002. Roy worked as a US Postal Carrier for 34 years. He had many other interests including cattle ranching and raising chickens for their eggs. Roy was a past member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian Church, both in Grand Forks. Roy was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Roy is survived by his children, Rod (Diane) Schnebli, Grand Forks, Roxanne Lunski, Grand Forks, Bonnie Brouse, Deb (Art) Bakken, Karen (Rick) Olson, Mark Kuzel ; daughter-in-law, Susan Kuzel; grandchildren, Jamie (Tricia) Lunski and Greg Lunski; great-grandchildren, Lynnea, Edison, Talan; sister-in-law, Audrey Schnebli; a niece, Gerri Ellis; several step grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a brother, George; brother-in-law, Robert (Lenore) Brecke; son-in-law, Tom Lunski; sons, Dale Kuzel and Wayne Kuzel; and a nephew, George Schnebli, Jr. Funeral Services: 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment and Military Honors: Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks.
