Ollie Betty Thompson, 83, Grand Forks, North Dakota, beloved mother, grandmother, sister & friend passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota on Wednesday, August 29th, 2012 after a brief illness. Ollie was born on January 18th, 1929 to Otto & Betty(Steinman) Lehman in Brownwood, Texas. She attended and graduated from Bangs High School. After working a few years in the Brownwood area, she met and married Oscar M. Thompson on April 9th, 1952 in Brownwood, Texas. They then moved to the Greenville, South Carolina area where Oscar served in the Air Force until 1955. Upon his discharge, they relocated to the Southern California area from 1955 until 1960, then moving briefly to Brownwood, Texas and back to the Grand Forks, ND area to raise their 3 daughters. Ollie loved to cook, bake, garden, sew, explore the countryside and spend time with her family and grand dogs. She truly knew how to savor the simple pleasures in life and faced each day with a strong determination that became an inspiration to her daughters. She is survived by daughters, Susan Stanley, Grand Forks, Carol(Tom) Fontaine, Woodbury, MN and Connie Thompson, Maplewood, MN; grandsons, Zachary Stanley, Burnsville, MN, Dustin Opp, Maplewood, MN and Eric Stanley, Tucson, AZ; sister, Lorena(Marvin) Koch, Denison, TX. Ollie was preceded in death by her husband Oscar in 2009 after 57 years of marriage; mother and father; brothers, Arthur Lehman and Norman Lehman, grandson, Casey Opp and son-in-law, Victor Stanley. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Immanuel Lutheran Church 1710 Cherry St. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the church. INTERMENT: Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
