Al Zeidlik

December 22, 1957 — September 14, 2012

Al Zeidlik, 54, of Grand Forks, ND died Friday, September 14, 2012 in Sandford Hospital, Fargo, ND, from smoking cigarettes. Al was preceded in death by his parents Eileen and Robert Zeidlik. Survived by two stray cats who wandered into his yard and adopted him - his beloved Sammy and Echo; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Marc Thompson of Cairns, Australia; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and John Zeidlik-Zimney of Stacy, MN; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Kelli Zeidlik of Grand Forks, ND; nephew Joshua, nieces Nikki (and son Easton), and Mindy; best friends Jules and Andy. Alan is also survived by aunts and uncles, many cousins, many friends, and the Manvel, ND volunteer fire department. Most recently Al added to his family the doctors, nurses, aides and staff of the 3 South wing of Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. All those months when his disease was so inhumane they gave Al their best and made life livable for him. The rest of us appreciate all they did more than words can say. Al was an avid outdoorsman and was happiest anywhere in northern Minnesota where he could be out in the woods or fishing. Al was an accomplished photographer, videographer, TV producer, web site developer and could pull off a mean Photoshop that would fool anybody. He had only scratched the surface of his creative genius when he became too ill to work. As Johnny Carson put it just before his own death from smoking, "Damned cigarettes." A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 1:00 PM in Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour before the service in the funeral home.
