Edith Ann Lund, 91, who was currently residing in Half Moon Bay, CA with her daughter Judy, died Thursday, October 4, 2012 in San Mateo, CA. Edith Lund was born March 26, 1921 at Lankin, ND, the daughter of James and Rose (Capouch) Hodny. She graduated from Lankin High School and Union Commercial College, Grand Forks, ND. After her graduation from college she worked at the Walsh County Courthouse (Auditor's Office) in Grafton, ND. There she met her husband Martin Lund, who was teaching in Grafton. They were married July 21, 1944 at Lankin, ND. They then moved to Grand Forks, ND where they spent over 50 happy years and raised three daughters. Martin Lund passed away January 24, 1995. For a time she worked at the Grand Forks Credit Bureau and then she worked several years at the University of ND in the Physics Dept. She also did professional typing for university students. This typing service enabled her to meet many students from all over the U.S. and overseas. She and her husband Martin, hosted many dinners and other activities for many of the foreign students. She had many interests including, gardening, writing poetry, and other articles, quilting, crocheting and music. Music was a special interest to both her and her husband. She played the piano, clarinet and button accordion. She and her husband enjoyed dancing and traveled to many musical festivals and events. Traveling was a big activity in their life, and they traveled extensively all over the U.S. and overseas. She enjoyed baking for her family and friends. She became quite well known for her special doughnuts and shared them with many friends. She was a fun loving person who loved life and lived it to the fullest and touched the hearts of many people. Her family was very important to her and she was a very devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She and her husband Martin, celebrated their golden anniversary in August 1994. She was a member of United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND : a charter member of the Triple E. Homemakers Club, Golden K-Wives Club, and the Tuesday Nite Good Friends Dinner Club. Loving members of her family include her daughters: Judith Lund, Half Moon Bay, CA; Frances (Lund) Corbit, Half Moon Bay, CA ; Dr. Kathleen (Lund) Ayaz, Eden Prairie, MN; sister - Dorothy Eller of Bloomington, MN; and five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Lund; her parents - Rose and James Hodny and sister's - Margaret Vorachek & Marcella Helt. **In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Salvation Army, United Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
