Marion Fischer

December 1, 1930 — October 7, 2012

Marion Fischer, 81 formerly from the Holmes Community in rural Thompson, North Dakota passed away October 7, 2012 at the Wheatland Terrace residential facility in Grand Forks. Marion Fischer the daughter of August and Winifred (Mutschelknaus) Klamm was born December 1, 1930 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She spent her early years living in the home her father built in the Holmes Community. She enjoyed the rural farming life Holmes Community provided. When Marion was sixteen, she and her Mother moved from North Dakota to California where she completed her high school education. Marion met her first husband in California and enjoyed being a homemaker and raising two children of her own and two step children. In the early 1980's she moved back to North Dakota, the place she always called home, where she met her second husband, Howard Fischer. They shared a happy marriage of thirty years together. Marion and Howard spent many years on the farm in the Holmes Community where Marion enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and taking care of the home, Howard and her farm cats. She loved mothering children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She had a special relationship with her nieces and nephews who grew up in the same home that she did, not far from the Fischer homestead. She was a loving woman who always made everyone feel warm and welcome in her home. Marion is survived by her husband Howard Fischer, her son Jim Cook, her daughter, Lori Cook-Kroll, two granddaughters Katherine and Paula Kroll, and loving nieces and nephews from the Bob & Alvina Klamm family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Bob and Paul Klamm. Visitation: Friday October 12, 2012 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St Grand Forks, ND. Funeral Services: Saturday October 13, 2012 11:00AM at Holmes United Methodist Church, Rural Reynolds
