Shirley M. Hoverson, 92, of Manvel, ND, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2012 at her home in Manvel, ND. Shirley Myrtle Hoverson was born January 11, 1920, the daughter of Charles & Theoline (Quanrud) Olsen in Grand Forks. She grew up and graduated from High School in Manvel and attended Commercial College in Grand Forks. She lived in the same house, all of her life since she was 8 years old. Shirley married William F. Hoverson November 2, 1939 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Forks. She worked for US Postal service for numerous years. Shirley was a charter member of the Manvel Women's Club, she was a member of the Manvel Legion Auxiliary, St. Timothy's Altar Society, and she was a fuller of the church linens for many years. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and visiting with friends. She was known for her fresh baked buns. In her later years she was a regular attendee at the Manvel Senior Center for lunch and cards. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Jean Keegan of Whitefield, ME, Jane (Joseph) McDonald of Columbia, MO; sons, Bill (Carol) Hoverson of Fargo, ND, and Bob Hoverson of Grand Forks; sister, Dorothy Tuttle of Portland, OR; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Hoverson; daughter, Judith Birkholz; son-in-laws, Charles Birkholz and Bill Keegan; brothers, Olmer, Orin and Peter; sisters, Esther, Lu, Margaret, Helen, Alice, Irene and Eloise; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. ***Memorial Contributions may be directed to St. Timothy's Catholic Church, The Manvel Senior Center or a charity of your choice. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Manvel, ND. VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Manvel on Monday, October 22. Visitation will continue for the hour prior to the funeral mass service at the church. INTERMENT: St. Timothy's Catholic Cemetery, Manvel, ND.
